Journey

Hala Alzaitoun

My journey has been shaped by curiosity, adaptability, and a strong desire to build meaningful software products. After moving to the United States, I focused on establishing myself professionally, learning new systems, new expectations, and new ways of working while continuing to grow technically and personally.

I built my career step by step, working in environments that challenged me to think critically, collaborate across teams, and take ownership of complex problems. Over time, those experiences helped me develop confidence not just in my technical skills, but in my ability to navigate ambiguity, influence decisions, and contribute beyond my immediate role.

This page is a reflection on how those experiences came together, how I paused intentionally to reassess my direction, and how that process led me toward product management as the next chapter of my career.

Building My Career

Building my career in the United States required learning quickly and adapting constantly. I was navigating a new professional environment, new expectations, and new ways of communicating and collaborating, all while continuing to grow as a software engineer. I focused on doing strong work, earning trust, and showing up consistently for the teams I was part of.

Over time, I worked on increasingly complex systems and projects that required close collaboration across engineering, product, and business partners. I learned how decisions made early could have long term impact, how trade offs shape outcomes, and how alignment across teams is just as important as technical execution. These experiences strengthened not only my technical foundation, but also my judgment, communication style, and ability to influence outcomes.

As my responsibilities grew, so did my perspective. I became more involved in conversations around scope, prioritization, and delivery, and I started to see the broader picture behind the work. I wasn’t just interested in how systems were built, but in why certain problems were worth solving and how teams could work together more effectively to deliver value.

An Intentional Pause and Reflection

After years of continuous growth and delivery, I made the intentional decision to step back and create space to reflect. I wanted to reassess what energized me most, where I was creating the greatest impact, and how I wanted to shape the next chapter of my career. This pause was not about stepping away from work, but about stepping toward clarity.

During this time, I focused on learning, exploration, and honest self assessment. I revisited the parts of my past roles that consistently motivated me and paid close attention to where I felt most effective. That process reinforced a pattern I had seen for years. I was most engaged when I was defining problems, guiding direction, and helping teams make informed decisions rather than focusing solely on execution.

This period of reflection gave me confidence and alignment. It helped me move forward with intention, grounded in a clearer understanding of my strengths, interests, and the kind of impact I want to make through my work.

Product Management Focus

Through reflection and experience, product management emerged as the natural next step in my career. It brought together the parts of my work I had consistently gravitated toward: understanding user needs, shaping direction, prioritizing effectively, and guiding teams toward meaningful outcomes. Product management allows me to operate where strategy, execution, and impact meet.

My background in software engineering strengthens how I approach product. I understand how products are built, where constraints exist, and how decisions made early affect delivery, scale, and long term maintainability. This perspective helps me ask better questions, evaluate trade offs realistically, and partner closely with engineering teams while keeping customer and business goals front and center.

I’m now focused on building my career as a Technical Product Manager, with interest in Feature PM, Customer PM, Release PM, Business PM, and broader Product Manager roles. I’m especially drawn to product work involving AI enabled software, where thoughtful application of data and intelligence can improve experiences, support better decisions, and create durable value when guided by strong product judgment.

This shift is intentional and energizing. It reflects how I already work, how I think about impact, and how I want to continue growing as a product leader.
